John Clifton Canupp December 19, 1964 - February 5, 2024 On February 5, 2024, John Clifton Canupp, 59, having suffered a severe stroke suddenly departed from this world on the final adventure that all eventually undertake. John was brought up along with his brother, Phillip, by their parents Johnny Arthur and Carolyn Hope in the small town of Minneapolis (AKA Dogtown, as he preferred). As his mother was a Young and a Burleson, he had no lack of loving nearby kin, many of whom became lifelong friends or mentors. He was a patient, funny, intelligent, and methodical man; traits well suited for both his career and passions. Hunting, fishing, studying his heritage, and tinkering with technology were among his favorite things. He was never far when a neighbor or family member needed help with a gadget or project. His generosity with his time, skill, and humor was incredible. Everything changed when he married the love of his life, Lesley Ann Hughes in 1992 (rumor is that it may have been because of how delicious her grilled cheeses were). Next on the agenda was raising his two boys; being sure to teach them things like civic duty and how best to catch trout out of the nearby river. John Clifton Canupp is survived by his wife of over 30 years, his younger brother Phillip Mark, his eldest son John Michael and wife Sarah Ormand, his youngest Milton James and girlfriend Blair Pack, his uncle David Vance, and a slew of cousins near and far. As a man who was always loaded with a funny comment, witty observation, and a loving embrace he will be sorely missed. We love you Dad and hope for a reunion once we join you on that final adventure.
